1979
Foundation Stone Laid — 28 November 1979
The Government of Bangladesh initiated Comilla Medical College (Cumilla Medical College) and its teaching hospital; the foundation stone was laid at Kuchaitoli, Cumilla.

1981–1982
First MBBS Session Begins
Academic activities commenced with the first MBBS batch (approx. 50 students), marking the start of undergraduate medical education at CoMC.

1982
Temporary Suspension
Classes were temporarily suspended due to hospital expansion and associated infrastructure adjustments.

1992
Academic Restart — 11 January 1992
Academic activities officially resumed; clinical teaching and departmental expansion gathered pace.

2009
Hospital Upgraded to 500 Beds
The attached teaching hospital, which began with 250 beds, was upgraded to 500 beds to serve the growing patient load of the region.

Today
Current Status
CoMC is a government medical college with multiple academic departments, student hostels, and a major referral hospital. It follows the MBBS curriculum approved by the Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BM&DC) and is aligned with national university/medical university affiliation policies.
